Chapter 11!

Chapter 11: Audiovisual Technologies
For both audio and visual technologies, identify one traditional and one emerging technology from the book, and explain how you could potentially use all four devices in the classroom. Post your responses on your blog page you created for this class.
Responses are due by Thursday, March 24, 5:00 pm.

Audio Traditional: The piece of technology I would use the most in my classroom would be a tape recorder or record player! Mixing it up for the students would not only be a blast but would be a great way for learning. The tape recorder could be used for many different things! Varying from spelling out lout and being able to play it back in a grammar or spelling class for the younger kids, or even for practicing for a speech class in high school. Another great one would be the talking book. This could be used for students just learning to read in elementary school or even for older students who enjoy adding auditory dimensions to text!

Emerging Audio: A few of the emerging audio technologies I would use in my classroom would be CD players, MPS players Ipods, DVD players and internet audio. There are SO many thing you can listen to and learn from using internet audio! It could be used to listen to speakers, speeches, foreign languages in certain classes and for so many other great experiences.

Visual Traditional: Overhead projectors were used daily in my high school and I would say I benefited from them. Being able to project something onto the screen for my entire class to participate in would make great learning activities. You could take notes, play games and do many other group activities. IT also allows teachers to participate with their students while the lesson is projected on the screen for all to see.

Emerging Visual: My favorite emerging visual technology has to be internet video. These days we use youtube for every thing! There are so many fun videos and even more educational videos for stunts to use! I love youtube and most of the videos on it. A lot of the time if the video is not appropriate it is banned from youtube and can't be viewed. Another one would be live internet broadcasts. Students or teachers could listen to anything from concerts to the presidents speeches! This would be a great tool in the classroom.
